When applied to the skin it exerts a powerful osmotic action on living cells. It is a useful initial treatment for boils, carbuncles and whitlows. Magnoplasm Paste is a drawing paste containing glycerol and dried magnesium sulfate. The glycerol acts as a humectant which means it attracts water to itself and magnesium sulphate works via osmosis. The magnesium sulfate is dried so does not contain any water and when applied to the skin exhibits a strong osmotic effect and glycerol is hygroscopic, meaning it has a strong affinity for water and thus will draw out moisture from the inflamed area (as well as the atmosphere) Tried and trusted by generations of Australians having been manufactured and sold in Australia since the 50’s.
Ingredients
Active Ingredients: Dried magnesium sulfate 48% w/w, Glycerol 44% w/w.
How to Use
Spread about 5mm thick on a non-adhesive dressing. Apply to inflamed area then bandage. Change after 12-24 hours. May be used cold but can be gently warmed for easy spreading.
